(English Translation below)

Somme of my wonderful experiences in Rjasthan, photographically captured for me by Sagar Saxena.

Discover "Incredible India" with Sagar Saxena

Bright sun hat, loose cotton shirt, casual trousers and a winning smile: Sagar Saxena is a popular figure. He comes up to me in Abhaneri - halfway between Agra and Jaipur - and will stay at my side for the next three days. And show me the north Indian Rajasthan - in a way that not only impressed me but also touched me deeply. Reason enough to introduce the 35-year-old specialist for spiritual culture and photo tours (Memory walks).

Sagar, what inspires and motivates you to work as a travel guide here in Northern India?

It is on the one hand my passion for travelling and on the other hand to get to know new people and their philosophy of life. My claim is to always offer the best program, individually tailored to the wishes of the guest. As a tour guide I simply have to be very flexible and spontaneous. Every guest should take home fantastic and unforgettable wow experiences.

How do you do it?

I try to take the guests in a subtle way into the mystical world of fortresses, palaces and temples, in other words into the fairytale land of 1001 nights. With experiences that go beyond regular sightseeing, that are exotic and unusual. Dancing at an Indian wedding, touching an elephant, attending a temple ceremony are just as much a part of it as meeting an exotic sannyasin. Simple events are transformed into unforgettable personal experiences.

Oh yes! I still remember well our visit of a Hare Krishna ceremony in the temple of Jaipur, the visit of an Indian family with whom we cooked. And the moment when we passed a farming community by car and I asked you to stop spontaneously to ask the head of the family if we could have a look around. You did that for me! All the family members came running up, greeted us warmly and showed us their habitats. A touching moment that I will never forget.

That's true, this encounter touched me very much too.

You work according to the old mantra "Atithi Devo Bhava".

"Atithi Devo Bhava" carries the philosophy "The guest is God". And this is how I treat my guests. As a travel guide I have a great responsibility to represent my country. A country with the oldest history, many languages, traditions, cultures, deep spirituality and much more. On the other hand, there are big challenges like poverty, overpopulation, infrastructure. Leading people to fall in love with this incredible India is a sensitive task that I face with passion in the spirit of the guest.

You also offer spiritual photo tours, the "Memory walks".

Exactly - and with a lot of passion. Six years ago I started taking pictures. I was inspired by a German doctor who was a travel photographer. I feel incredibly lucky when I have managed to photograph a motif in such a way that it authentically reflects an unforgettable memory. I offer these tours to my guests so that they can capture their experiences and later share them with family and friends.

I have fallen in love with your country. You did everything right.

That makes me happy (laughs). Sending satisfied guests into the world so that they not only come back, but also encourage many other new guests to visit India makes me happy.
